Nope! The classes are designed for beginners so that you’ll learn how to stand up paddle board in a safe and supported environment. As long as you can swim you are good to go!
Technically yes, you can just show up but, we have limited space in each class and signing up ahead of time guarantees you a spot. Plus, if you sign-up ahead of time you’ll save yourself some money!
Wear clothing you’ll be comfortable in and that will dry quickly if you get it wet. Sunglasses and a hat are encouraged. Bring water, there’s a place on your board to secure it as we paddle. Leave all valuables in your car, the instructor will have a dry bag for your car keys. Make sure you apply sun screen before class so as not to get burned.
For rentals, the youngest age that is capable to paddle on their own is 14 years old. If your child is under the age of 14 but has taken our Basic Paddle Boarding Class and are okayed by their instructor to paddle solo, then they can rent and paddle on their own. We also offer the option for children to sit on the front of the board while their parents or an adult paddles. The weight limit for the board is 250lbs. We recommend that paddlers be at least 10-12 years old in order to take our paddle boarding classes. If your child is younger than this but still wants to take class and you believe they are strong enough, email Casey at info@standupandflow.com and we can discuss further. All children 12 and under are required to wear a life jacket at all times, which we will provide.
If the rain is light and spotty, we may still have class. If it’s more intense and if there’s any thunder or lightening, the class will be cancelled and you’ll be refunded your money.
